Common Procedures
- Arthroscopy – Problems in a joint are visualized, diagnosed and treated using special cameras and equipment
- Fusion – It is like a “welding” process in which bone grafts and internal devices such as metal rods are used to fuse the broken bones together and to heal it into a single solid bone
- Internal Fixation – Metal plated, pins or screws are used to hold the broken pieces of bone in proper position while the bone is healing
- Joint replacement – An arthritic or damaged joint is replaced with an artificial joint
- Osteotomy – Bone deformities are corrected by cutting and repositioning the bone
- Soft Tissue Repair – Patching of soft tissue, such as torn tendons or ligaments
Scoliosis Surgery
- The modern instrumentation systems involves application of hooks and screws to the spine for anchoring long rods which are used to hold the spine while bone that is added fuses together with existing bone.
- Fusing of the bone does not allow the spine to move and therefore the curve cannot progress. In some cases the rod is removed if it causes irritation to the soft tissue around the spine.
